News of Bishop Patrick

During the summer, Bishop Patrick was delighted to receive an invitation, via the Primates World Relief and Development Fund, to undertake a year’s study towards a Diploma in Anglican Studies at the College of Emmanuel and St Chad in Saskatoon, Canada.

After numerous delays, we are delighted to report that shortly before Christmas Bishop Patrick learned that the Canadian High Commission in Nairobi had agreed to grant him a visa to visit Canada for an extended period of study. After an anxious few days, while he waited for his visa to arrive from Nairobi, he was finally able to leave Dar on 31 December 2006 – and after a long flight (which included a 19 hour stopover in London) he arrived in Saskatoon on Tuesday, 2 January 2007. The weather in Saskatoon when he arrived was minus 16 degrees Celsius, clear and “frigid”, but we are confident that the warmth of the welcome that Bishop Patrick will receive from the College of Emmanuel and St Chad will compensate for the freezing temperatures.
